The oldest ski shop in New York City
In 2008 Emilio's Ski Shop will celebrate it's
50th year.
It was the fall of 1958, when a small fruit stand in Forest
Hills, New York was converted into a ski shop. Emilio DeTurris, a young man from
Argentina had a vision and a dream that skiing would soon become a sport for not
only the rich and famous, but for everyone to enjoy. As the founder of our
store, Emilio had to created a market that didn’t exist . To do this, Emilio
transported these potential ski enthusiasts to the local ski areas, giving
instructions, and getting them home to purchase equipment.
Years of hard work and total commitment to the sport of
skiing allowed Emilio the ability to open new stores. Together with his wife
Herta, Emilio owned and operated
several ski and surf shops throughout Long Island, and most notably the ski and
rental shop at Hunter Mountain.

grown to a 4000 square foot store featuring a separate snowboard shop, ski
shop, winter/skiwear store and skateboard section. We continue and expanded our
trip programs to Hunter Mountain, Windham, Mount Snow, Belleayre, Okemo Stratton
and have expanded our horizons to include Canada. We can also arrange corporate ski outings, trips for boy and girl scouts
or any group or club that would like to enjoy a day on the snow. Our staff is comprised of avid skiers, snowboarders,
and skaters all whom are very knowledgeable and passionate for their sports. |
